For air conditioning units over 10 years old, or if you are looking to convert from evaporative to refrigerated air conditioning, you could save up to 30 percent on your cooling costs be replacing it with a more efficient unit. Your contractor can recommend a model that will offer maximum efficiency while ensuring home comfort.
The efficiency of air conditioning units is measured by the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Radio (SEER). Similar to R-value, the higher the SEER, the more efficient the unit.
